On 20th of September 2018, the port building of the Banja Luka International Airport was turned into an oasis of sound and art, led by Dejan Janković , the most talented young virtuoso pianist of our region. This event is our
contribution to the candidature of Banja Luka for the European Capital of Culture in 2024. The launch of Ryanair, the largest low-tariff company in Europe, as a great news for our airport, is framed in the desire to inform the
region through art that we are turning our country towards Europe and the World. An impressive repertoire of the Banja Luka Airport on the Wings of Art concert made the evening in the port building unforgettable.
An exhibition of artworks titled "Flight" was opened at the port building of the Banja Luka International Airport on 19th of October 2018. The exhibition "Flight" presents the works of young artists aged from 7 to 10 years, who
are students of the painting school "Dragaš". In cooperation with professor Renato Rakić, we came to the idea of supporting the youngest and motivating them for creative work and imagination, and at the same time, we show how
important their work and progress are. The exhibition presents their experience and freedom of expression on the topic "Flight", which certainly enhances the space of the port building of the Banja Luka International Airport,
through which various profiles of people and passengers have been circulating, who will have the opportunity to enjoy the artistic creations of our youngest artist citizens.
The historic moment is the landing of the first aircraft of Ryanair, Europe's largest low-tariff company, at Banja Luka International Airport. The first flight symbolically opens new doors of Banja Luka International Airport in
the business world, and opens the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina to Europe and the World in the easiest and most beautiful way.

Beside the representatives of the Airports of the Republic of Slovenia as host, were also present representatives of the Directorate of Civil Aviation of BiH (BHDCA), the Agency for Providing Services in Air Navigation of Bosnia

Mr Vlaisavljević has talked to Duško Kovačević, Acting managing Director of Banja Luka International Airport on the improvement of the cooperation of the two airports, which is already strong for couple of years. The
cooperation of the Nikola Tesla Airport and Banja Luka Airport is based on the technical assistance which the professional services of the Belgrade Airport provide to the colleagues in Banja Luka. Professional assistance
represents donations of the airport equipment and training which the Centre for professional training provides in the area of business from the ground handling. Likewise, the topics of the meetings were also the activities in
the area of the commercial business, which include the assistance in bringing the new air-companies in Banja Luka.
In the return visit to the representatives of the management of Banja Luka Airport in the company of the colleagues from the Belgrade Airport have toured Nikola Tesla Airport, where they acquainted with the handling of
passengers and baggage, service of the aircrafts as well as the conducted investments fro the purpose of modernization and improvement of the infrastructure of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
During the visit, in Belgrade was a meeting with the Vice-President of the Government of Serbia and the Minister of Civil Engineering, Traffic and Infrastructure, prof. dr Zorana Mihajlović and the topics were the development
plans of the Banja Luka International Airport and the support of the Government of Serbia. Mihajlović has pointed out that for the further development of Banja Luka Airport was necessary to continue with the investments in this

Activities on the building of the Banja Luka airport started at the year of 1976. According to the development plans of that time, when the airport capacities were built, on account of which the Banja Luka airport is defined as the
secondary airport, through which the inner air traffic of the space of SFRJ would occur. By political and territorial transformation of the SFRJ and BiH space, the Republic of Srpska was constituted as a realistic political fact,
which gave the Banja Luka airport new significance and a whole different role. The Banja Luka airport appears as one of the fastest, safest and most economic exits from Republic of Srpska into the world and by that it becomes one
of important factors of statehood of Republic of Srpska. Banja Luka airport was opened for civil air traffic on November 18th 1997. Since March 2nd 1998, when the Yugoslavian air transport handled its first promotional flight on
Banja Luka airport this airport has the specific function of international transportation of passengers. Banja Luka airport is built on Laktaši and Gradiška municipality, on the area belonging to the wide river Vrbas valley
spreading to the famous Lijevče field. Distance between the airport and the main Banja Luka – Gradiška highway is 1100 meters, and 23 km away from the Banja Luka downtown.
